Homer Community Recreation Mission Statement

Homer Community Recreation program will promote community involvement in and life-long learning through, educational and recreational opportunities for people of all ages. This will be accomplished through maximizing usage of all community facilities and resources, while utilizing, expanding and uniting local business and school resources and expertise. Our program shall be designed to recognize cultural diversity and to address social and community concerns.

Beginning in 2006 the City of Homer assumed responsibility for operating the Homer Community Recreation program. The program is partially funded through class fees.  The balance of the funding is provided by the City of Homer through tax dollars. The City has an agreement with the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District for use of equipment and facilities at several locations such as Homer High, Homer Middle School, Old Homer Middle School, West Homer and Paul Banks Elementary.

The City is committed to providing safe and enjoyable year-round educational and recreational programs for children, youth, young adults and adults. If you have a hobby or skill that you would like to teach, please contact the Community Recreation Coordinator.
